RECOGNITION AND SUPPORT
From 1991 until 1995 an annual dinner dance was held which included the presentation of trophies to vessels & commemorative tankards to crews.
Alex Morrison Trophy
Awarded to a white fish Shetland fishing vessel,under 60ft overall length (400hp and under)
George L. Hunter Trophy
Awarded to a white fish Shetland fishing vessel, of 60ft overall length (over 400hp)
Henry Stewart Pelagic Trophy
Awarded to a Shetland pelagic fishing vessel
Shetland Aquaculture Trophy
Awarded to a Shetland salmon farm
The Hunter & Morrison Trust hopes to award these trophies again in the future.
In 1991 the Trustees resolved to provide £500 per annum to NAFC Marine Centre to be used for suitable prizes in each of the following fields:
- Marine Engineering
- Nautical Studies
- Fish Processing
- Aquaculture
In 1993 a donation was made to NAFC Marine Centre in respect of the George L. Hunter & Alexander Morrison Rooms, which now accommodate the full mission bridge simulator. Financial assistance has also been made available to support industry relevant work experience placements, such as: individual training courses, an annual lecture by prominent industry figures and PhD studentships.
Gifts, donations, legacies or bequests, however great or small, are gratefully received and will be used to support the promotion of the Hunter & Morrison Trust’s aims and objectives.
